Abstract:Objective To investigate the medium and long term clinical outcome of the Prestige artificial disc arthroplasty(CDA).Methods 20 patients who underwent Prestige LP cervical artificial replacement surgery from January 2008 to June 2009 were followed up.X-ray was used to measure the cervical activity, the prosthetic intervertebral disc space angel and the adjacent intervertebral disc activity and height. The heterotopic ossification around the prosthesis was judged according to McAfee classification. The NDI,JOA score and VAS were used to evaluate the symptom improvement. Results All the patient finished the clinical and imaging follow-up.The postoperative follow-up was 8.8 years in average(7.6 to 9.0 years). The recovery of patients’neurological function was good. The NDI and JOA score of spinal cord function improved significantly(P<0.05),VAS score of neck, shoulder and the upper extremity improved significantly(P<0.05).The postoperative prosthesis activity was significantly decreased, both the activity of the cervical and the adjacent segment had no statistically significant differents(P>0.05).There was no significant change in the height of the cranial adjacent segment, while it was significantly lower in the caudal adjacent segment(P<0.05).Conclusion The medium and long term outcome The Prestige LP cerivical disc arthroplasty shows satisfactory medium-long term results for treating cervical spondylosis myelopathy, the CDA can maintain the ROM of involved segment as well as the activity of the cervical and adjacent segments.
